controlling the format of item description on submenu item

I have created a simple menu, and the items contain a thumbnail image and a description in addition to the menu item's caption.

I am finding that when the item description is longer than the width of the submenu, it continues beyond the right hand edge of the submenu. Is there anyway to control the behaviour of this text - IE to make it wrap within the width of the submenu
