Alternating Item appearance within grid

Greetings,

I am wondering if there is a way to make the items alternate in styling.
for instance there is a standard 3 column layout, is there a way to make the grid function in a way so that the items can vary in width?

Ex:

[ 25% ] [ 75% ]
[ 33% ][ 33% ][ 33% ]
[ 75% ] [ 25% ]

About your question with news wall you can change width for special item but not for each row.
You can show special item with html structure:
<div id="itemListLeading">
<div class="itemContainer special important-width">
</div>
</div>
<div id="itemListPrimary">
<div class="itemContainer">
</div>
</div>
Then css for itemContainer.special.important-width
Example: special item with is 50%normal item width is 25%
