Subject: Visual preview and custom styling options in JUX News Wall Pro

Hello JUX Team,

I am currently rebuilding parts of my Joomla website using JUX News Wall Pro, replacing another extension that I have used for several years.

I really like the possibilities offered by JUX News Wall Pro, but I have a question regarding the available item styles.

In the module settings, I can select between Style 1 and Style 9. However, there does not appear to be a visual preview showing what each style looks like.

This makes it difficult to choose a layout without repeatedly saving the module and checking the frontend.

I also wonder whether it would be possible to offer more user-defined styling options directly in the module administration.

For example:

- A visual preview of the nine available styles.
- Options to customize background colours, borders, spacing and typography.
- The ability to create and save custom item styles.
- The possibility of reusing custom styles across multiple JUX News Wall Pro modules.

I am aware that custom CSS can be added under the Advanced tab, and that styling can also be handled through the Joomla template's CSS files.

However, this is not quite the same as having a visual style editor directly within the extension.

My previous extension offered more flexibility through its widget configuration, and I would love to see similar possibilities in JUX News Wall Pro.

My questions are:

1. Is there already a way to preview the nine item styles directly in the backend?
2. Are there any plans to introduce more user-defined styling options or a visual style builder in a future version?

Thank you for your work on JUX News Wall Pro.

Best regards,
Henrik Larsen

Hello Henrik,

Thank you for contacting us and for your detailed feedback about JUX News Wall Pro. We really appreciate your suggestions.

Regarding your questions:

At the moment, we do not have a visual preview of the nine styles directly in the module backend. However, you can view examples of the available styles in our documentation here:

docs.joomlaux.com/extensions/jux_news_wall_pro/#frontend

You can also view the styles directly on our demo site to see how they look in practice.

2. More customization options / visual style builder

Our current approach is to keep the extension simple and easy to use, while still providing enough flexibility through the available settings and custom CSS options.

Your suggestions are very useful, and we will take them into consideration for future development.

Thank you again for using JUX News Wall Pro and for sharing your ideas with us.

Best regards,

Best regards.
Jackie Nguyen.

Hello Jackie,

First of all, thank you very much for your detailed and friendly reply. I especially appreciate that you took the time to respond outside your normal support hours (Monday–Friday, 08:00–17:00 GMT+7).

I would like to share the solution I have developed while rebuilding my website, kogemanden-henrik.dk, from Minitek Wall to JUX News Wall Pro.

I have found a practical way to manage the visual appearance of multiple JUX News Wall Pro modules through one external CSS file.

**The key to my solution is using each JUX module's unique module ID directly in the CSS selectors.**

For example, my main Seasons module has ID 243, while my Autumn module has ID 245.

I can target them individually:

```css
#jnwp-news-wall-wrapper-243 .jnwp-content {
background: #fff3d6 !important;
border: 2px solid #008000 !important;
}
```

And for another module:

```css
#jnwp-news-wall-wrapper-245 .jnwp-content {
background: #fff3d6 !important;
border: 2px solid #008000 !important;
}
```

However, instead of maintaining separate CSS rules for every module, I can group their module IDs using the CSS `:is()` selector.

This allows all modules belonging to the same website section to share exactly the same colors and styling, while other sections can have completely different color themes.

My CSS is stored separately in:

`/homemadecss/jux-news.css`

I currently have nine JUX News Wall Pro modules in my Seasons section, all using the same color theme.

My next section, "The World of the Kitchen", will have its own color theme, again shared across its individual modules.

This approach gives me centralized styling without modifying the original extension files or relying on separate generated CSS files for every module.

I am sharing this because I believe the module ID approach could also be useful for your future development of JUX News Wall Pro.

For example, a future visual styling interface could potentially allow users to assign modules to a shared color theme, while still using the existing module IDs to target the correct elements.

That might make it possible to introduce more flexible styling without significantly complicating the module interface.

Of course, I understand that you want to keep the extension simple and easy to use, and I appreciate that approach.

I hope my practical experience and this solution can provide some useful inspiration for your future development.

Thank you again for your excellent support and for taking my suggestions seriously.

Best regards,

Henrik Larsen

Hello Jackie,

There is one more thing I would like to mention.

I have also translated JUX News Wall Pro into Danish and created the Danish language files for the extension.

I would be happy to share these translations with your development team, so they could potentially be included in a future release of JUX News Wall Pro.

Would you prefer that I send the Danish language files directly to you, or would you rather download them from my website?

I would be pleased if my translation work could also benefit other Danish Joomla users.

Best regards,

Hello Henrik,

Thank you for sharing your solution and detailed feedback. Your approach using module IDs and :is() is very useful.

JUX News Wall Pro also provides an option to customize the item style with minimal CSS, as shown here:

prnt.sc/i5jfpUgc74hX

When you customize the style, the extension automatically generates a CSS file for each module at:

/modules/mod_jux_news_wall_pro/assets/css/style/custom-moduleID.css

So each module can have its own custom styling without modifying the original extension files.

We really appreciate your suggestion about a centralized styling/theme system and will keep it in mind for future development.

For the translate language, you can give us via email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
